Homecoming 2011 Written By: Tom Buckley The week of October 17-22 was Homecoming Week, and the theme was Winter Wonderland. Among the festivities were 5 fun, themed dress up days. Monday's attire was tourist day, and we had many creative costumes. Along with the fun attire, the middle and high school students played human foosball, a game which was popular among all the students. A little points competition livened up the festivities. On Monday, the Seniors took the lead with 400 points, Sophomores came in 2nd with 375, Freshmen came in third with 275, and the Juniors were last with 250. Tuesday's attire was Camo day; all of the students blended in with each other. It was neat to see. Tuesday's upper school activity was a water activity. A water balloon toss turned into a festive water balloon fight which resulted in the Seniors bringing their point total to 1350, with the sophomores continuing to hold second place with 1175 points, the Freshmen maintained their third place rank with 725 points, and the Juniors continued to pull up the rear with 450 points in total. Wednesday was Fictional Character day. There were a lot of creative costumes. In the afternoon, the upper school played some Powder Puff Football, where the boys led cheers while the girls played some football. The Senior and Junior girls teamed up against the Freshmen and Sophomores. The upper classmen came up with a victory. Wednesday's point totals were 2200 for seniors, 1750 for Sophomores, 1300 for Freshmen, and 850 points for the Junior class. Thursday's fun attire included Nerd costumes. In addition to the students creative costumes we saw a nerdy Math teachers, and English teachers and even a nerdy librarian. In the activity period, the upper school students put on skits in the gym. Everyone goofed around and had a good laugh at themselves, as the 9th grade impersonated the seniors at lunch, while the seniors impersonated the High School teachers. Thursday's Point totals were 2800 for Seniors, 1950 for Sophomores, 1575 for Freshmen, and 925 for Juniors. Friday was, of course, School Spirit Day. Students from pre-K all the way through 12th grade displayed their school spirit with hair and faces painted blue, black and white. The activity on Friday was the Pep Rally. During the Pep rally, was a parade of floats designed by each class, each made on a wagon, and pulled by a tricycle. Fridays points reflected the total for the whole week. The Seniors managed to maintain their lead at 3200 points, while the Sophomores maintained second place with 2150 points. The Freshmen followed close behind with 1825 points, and the Juniors ended the week with 1225 points. It was a great week of festive fun followed by two great football games and a Winter Wonderland theme dance in a beautifully decorated gym.
