2008 Varsity Girl's Softball
***NewsFlash*** Congratulations to Madison Maunuel who was named to the 1st team All State 1A softball team. Also, Heidi Riley and Courtney Riddle were named All State 2nd team! Congratulations to Heidi Riley for being tabbed the North Suncoast Female Academic Athlete of the year! Congratulations to Heidi Riley, Courtney Riddle, Jackie Butler and Madison Manuel for All County Honors!!! Congratulations to the Lady Lions for winnning their 6th district title in a row 14-10 over Meadowbrook Academy! The Lady Lions advance to the Regional Semifinal contest by defeating Peniel Baptist 9-0 on Tuesday, April 28th. They will face Lake Mary Prep on Friday, May 1st in the regional semifinal contest. Congratulations to our Lady Lions who lost to the State Champion Eagles View Lady Warriors 6-1 in the Final Four of the softball 1A State Championship at Plant City Stadium. The Lady Lions finished with an impressive 22-6 season and finished as one of the top teams in the state in 1A softball! Hernando Christian Academy welcomes Hall of Fame coach Ernie Chatman to the HCA family. Coach Chapman has an extensive coaching resume which includes the head baseball coach at Saint Leo University in 1984. Mr. Chapman spent 34 years at Hernando High School coaching basketball, baseball, cross country, softball and track where his teams won numerous district titles, regional titles and a state championship. He was named the Tampa Tribune Baseball Coach of the Decade for the period of 1975-1985. In 2004, Coach Chapman was inducted into the Florida Coach's Association Hall of Fame. Coach Chapman takes over a program that has won five district titles in a row and advanced to the sweet sixteen of the FHSAA 1A state playoffs this past season. Coach Meredith Hanshaw , a 2008 graduate of HCA, will team up with Coach Chapman as an assistant coach to form a an impeccable coaching tandem. Hernando Christian Academy welcomes Coach Chapman to the HCA family and looks forward to a tremendous partnership for many years to come.
