Guidance & Testing Quality education lives hand-in-hand with consistent and fair discipline to help our students learn respect and obedience in an environment of love. The atmosphere that best promotes quality learning and retention is one that has order, structure and discipline. Students should understand that discipline is an act of love, and at HCA the teachers and administration care about students enough to discipline them. At HCA, students are disciplined using affirmative discipline; that is, they are encouraged in a positive manner to give of their best in every area and to abide by school regulations (Proverbs 22:6).
Elementary students at HCA participate in standardize testing each year, which usually occurs during the month of April. Elementary students take the state-of-art tenth edition of the Stanford Achievement Test. Nationally it has been the academic standard of excellence for over 80 years and is currently used to measure student progress across the United States. This excellent instrument is a valid and reliable tool for objective measurement of student achievement. Admissions HCA administers a standardized test to all incoming students from K3 through 9th grade. The test fee is included in the application fee. This testing is used to evaluate incoming students to identify those students with the potential for success at our school.
