2010 FOOTBALL NEWS/UPDATES

Hernando Christian Academy announces the retirement of varsity football coach David Raley. Coach Raley has been a part of the Hernando Christian Academy football program since its inception in the fall of 2004. Soon after HCA tapped Steve Johnson as its first varsity head football coach, Coach Raley was named Assistant Head Coach.  He was named interim coach after Johnson resigned in 2007.  As interim head coach, Raley guided the Lions to a 6-2 record that year.  Soon after the term "interim" was dropped and Raley became the Lions permanent head coach. Coach Raley won 17 games over his three year tenure that included a perfect 10-0 season in 2008, and the first ever Sunshine State Athletic Conference Championship.  Hernando Christian Academy will sorely miss all that Coach Raley brought to our football program!

Assistant Head Football Coach and Head Baseball skipper Mike D'Ambrosio has been tapped to be Coach Raley's successor.  Coach D'Ambrosio graduated from Citrus High School in 1987.  He attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, and played both defensive tackle in football and catcher in baseball.  Coach D' Ambrosio graduated from UIU in 1991 with a degree in Physical Education.  He was the varsity baseball and football coach at Elkton Christian Academy in Elkton, Maryland from 2004-2008, where he also taught physical education.
