2008 Varsity Boy's Baseball

Former college player takes the helm. Second year coach Scott Boer comes from Boyden, Iowa where he played multiple sports in high school. Coach Boer played four years of college baseball for Dordt College of Sioux Center Iowa. He resides in Brooksville with his wife Tara and dog Lloyd and considers himself a naturalized Floridian. Coach Boer begins his second year as the skipper and is excited about the prospects of the 2008 campaign. Returning seniors, middle infielder Blake Hunter, utility players Matthew Traylor and Chip Harrell, along with Pitcher Derek Martin must provide leadership to ensure the continued success of the Lions' program. Coach Boer believes in hard work while focusing on the fundamentals with plenty of repetitions will keep the young lions sharp. “A great defense will produce a great offense” says Coach Boer. He intends on turning up the intensity to make another run at the district title, “if we can improve and peak at the end of the year, then we will go far”. Coach Boer is excited about the future of Lions’ baseball and if excitement is any indication, then the Lions will roar again in 2008.
